Video of the videoconference on the theory of jingluo 經絡 [Meridians and Ramifications] in Chinese medicine, given by Eric Marié, on Friday, April 2, 2021, at the invitation of the FAEMC. Although they are mainly known through acupuncture, the importance of jingluo is not limited to this therapeutic practice. They occupy an essential place in all aspects of Chinese medicine and the health practices of classical China. They are not only paths on which the points are distributed, they have their own physiology and their pathologies are diagnosed by methods specific to them. Prof. Marié will explain the origin of this theory and its historical development, the classification models in use, the reasons for their name, the specificity of each category and the place they occupy in Chinese medical thought. He will highlight the precise and sometimes little-known links they have with the zangfu 臟腑 [Organs and Entrails] and other aspects of Chinese medical thought. His explanations will be based on extracts from sources written throughout the history of China, from the oldest manuscripts to the classic reference treatises on which the development of Chinese medicine is based.
