Josiah instituted several religious reforms, including the removal of pagan idols and shrines. Zephaniah’s preaching may have had some influence on this revival. His prophecy foretells God’s wrath and restoration. Zephaniah condemns idolatry, which is putting anything in the place of God. The phrase "the great day of the Lord is near" just makes me think about the fact that one day we will leave this world and we don't know when. On the other hand, am I ready to leave? In the sense that: "Am I right with God?" and two "Are there people close to whom I should tell them more often that I love them?"
