In Kölau, Lower Saxony, a rooster with a swollen foot has been in the infirmary for some time. Together with her neighbor Iris, Christine Bremer wants to try out a new treatment method: a foot bath to soften the hardened skin. But how do they best get the rooster's claws into a bowl? In Schleswig-Holstein, at the Kriseby stud farm, trainee Barbara has to ensure that the horses have a water supply in the summer - in the case of pony Milo, that means using a lot of strength. She has to lug bucket after bucket to the paddock. Meanwhile, her boss Wulf-Heiner Kummetz is working on his tractor. He has knocked off a mirror - now he's building a replacement. At Karsten Dudziak's Sophienhof in Neustrelitz, employee Judith Kunsche has been responsible for growing vegetables for two years. Together with Karsten, she decides what is grown and then takes care of it. Every Wednesday she goes to the weekly market in town, where she brings the freshly harvested vegetables directly to the customers. Johannes Bercht has to look after the newly born calves on his farm in the Harz foothills. Are they all drinking enough, are the animals healthy or does one of the calves need special attention? But everything looks good in the calf barn. Then he goes out to the pasture. There are two heavily pregnant cows in the herd that could start giving birth at any time.
