The day of the liberation of Skopje is a reminder of the struggle for freedom and preservation of the city's identity. But today, the city and the Republic are facing new "occupiers" - economic and political powerful people who, due to their business interests, through trade in influence, occupy the public space and threaten the cultural identity. In the first podcast of the new season of Conversation in the Editor, we reveal how the construction mafia and the priorities of business elites are undermining the public interest. We talked with architect and university professor Mishko Ralev about the importance of preserving Macedonian architectural heritage and how the construction mafia threatens cultural identity. IRL journalists, based on cross-border research with Albania, expose the networks of influence between business and political elites.
