For years, Alicia lived with an insecurity that she could not name. She knew she was different, but the full extent of her difficulties only became clear to her a year ago, when she was finally diagnosed with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). This diagnosis not only brought clarity, but also a number of insights about herself. Pastor Flo (@jupa_flo) meets Alicia in a painting studio and has her show him on canvas what Alicia's head looks like. She uses colors to show what psychotherapist Viola Berg explains psychologically. The chaos in the head of those affected leads to a difficult everyday life. The overstimulation, the simultaneous processing of information, all of this often makes it impossible for Alicia to concentrate. The neurological causes of ADHD are now known. In those affected, the right frontal region of the brain is less active, and the balance of the neurotransmitters noradrenaline and dopamine is disturbed. This chemical imbalance leads to faulty signal transmission in the brain, which manifests itself in symptoms such as chronic restlessness, high tension and nervousness. For Alicia, the side effects were particularly severe. For years, she developed negative beliefs about herself. The consequences of unrecognized ADHD can be devastating. In Alicia's case, it was depression and an eating disorder that brought her into therapy. But the real problem - ADHD - remained undiscovered for a long time. It was not until October 2023, when she turned to therapist Viola Berg, who specializes in ADHD, that Alicia was diagnosed with ADHD. Since her diagnosis, many things have improved for Alicia. Aids such as so-called fidgets help her to control her inner tension. Nevertheless, ADHD remains a constant challenge. But Alicia has learned to deal with her disorder consciously, and this gives her back a sense of control over her life. For many, ADHD is an invisible challenge that is often only recognized late. But for people like Alicia, the diagnosis means a release from self-doubt and negative beliefs - and the beginning of a new, more conscious way of dealing with oneself. #adhs #diagnosis #hyperactivity #documentary #reportage #depressionyoutube ------------------------------ Editor & Editing: Amandine Cormier Camera: Christian Venn 00:00 Intro 00:17 Stereotype ADHD 01:16 Multitasking 02:00 Brain with ADHD 02:26 Symptoms 03:05 Depression 04:27 Attention 05:27 Negative beliefs due to undetected ADHD 07:21 Searching for therapy through social media 08:27 Forms of hyperactivity 11:45 Processing of stimuli 13:48 Aids for ADHD 15:38 Suffering from ADHD 16:12 Change through diagnosis 19:17 Flo's conclusion ------------------------------- BASIS:KIRCHE We have made it our mission to present reports and documentaries from real life.
