“Then he said, I will love thee, O Lord, my strength; the Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and he is my salvation. My God is my rock, in whom I will take refuge; he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation; he is my tower. I will call upon the Lord, and I will be saved from mine enemies. The snares of death compassed me, and the floods of Belial made me afraid. The snares of hell compassed me about, and the snares of death prevented me. In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple; and my cry came before him, even into his ears. The earth trembled and quaked; the foundations of the mountains quaked and were moved; for he was kindled in his wrath: smoke went up out of his nostrils, and devouring fire out of his mouth, and a flame was kindled by him. He stretched out the heavens and came down, and thick clouds were under His feet. He sat on a cherub and flew, and on the wings of the wind He rose... He reached from on high, He took me, He drew me out of great waters; He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from those who hated me, for they were too strong for me! They attacked me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my support, and he brought me out into a large place; he saved me, because he delighted in me. The Lord will deal with me according to my righteousness, and reward me according to the cleanness of my hands, because I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not departed from my God, for all his judgments are before me, and I have not put his statutes far from me. And I was blameless with him, and kept myself from my iniquity; and the Lord will reward me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight. With the righteous you will deal justly, with the upright with uprightness, with the pure you will deal purely, and with the wicked according to their wickedness, for you save the people from their distress, and you will bring down the eyes of the haughty, for you light my lamp, O Lord my God, and light my darkness. For with You I will run through a troop, and with my God I will leap over a wall. God is the way of integrity, the word of the Lord is tried; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. For who is God, except the Lord? and who is a rock, except our God? This God girds me with strength, and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, and sets me on my high places. He trains my hands for battle, and he strains a bow of bronze upon my shoulders. You have given me the shield of Your salvation, and Your right hand holds me up, and Your help makes me great. You enlarge my steps under me, so that my feet do not stumble. I will pursue my enemies and overtake them, and will not turn back until I have destroyed them; I will crush them so that they cannot rise; they fall under my feet. You have girded me with strength for battle; you have subdued under me those who rise up against me. You have turned my enemies against me, and I will destroy those who hate me. They cried out, but there was no one to save them; they cried to the Lord, but he did not answer them. I will beat them as dust in the wind, like the mire in the streets; I will trample them down. You have preserved me from the rebellion of the people; you have made me the head of the nations; nations whom I did not know shall serve me. At my report they obeyed me; foreigners bowed down to me; foreigners trembled and trembled in their fortresses. The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock, and let the God of my salvation be exalted, the God who avenges me and subdues the people under me, who saves me from my enemies.
