High School Math Teacher Training Program - January / 2001 Professor Morgado - Combinatorics II The High School Math Teacher Training Program – PAPMEM consists of free training for mathematics teachers from all over Brazil. It has been held since 1990 and covers topics related to high school. The program is held for one full-time week, from 9 am to 5 pm, independently in the months of January and July, during the school break. Each of the program modules is held simultaneously at IMPA and at partner institutions throughout the country. We currently have approximately 70 centers and 3,000 participating teachers. At IMPA, we have 150 students per module. Lectures are given in the morning and broadcast live, via the Internet, from IMPA to participating institutions in other states, using the infrastructure of the National Education and Research Network (RNP). In the afternoon, guided studies are carried out supervised by teachers from each center. This program resulted in a series of books especially aimed at high school teachers, published in the Mathematics Teacher Collection of the Brazilian Mathematical Society (SBM). In another phase, which had the support of the CAPES-FAPERJ program, the books entitled A Matemática do Ensino Médio – vol. 1, vol. 2 and vol. 3 were produced.
