The Garchen Chöding Center was founded in 2014 and is in the tradition of the Drikung Kagyü transmission, which holds the teachings of all five transmission lines of the Vajrayana. The founder and spiritual director of the center, HE Garchen Triptrül Rinpoche, is one of the most important masters of the Drikung Kagyü tradition. The Vienna center is continuously supervised by Drubpön Tsering Rinpoche, the resident lama of the Drikung Garchen Institute in Munich - one of Garchen Rinpoche's closest students. The center is aimed not only at, but primarily at, beginners in Buddhist teachings. This results in a careful and practical introduction to rituals, the Tibetan language, formal meditation practice and Dharma practice in everyday life, the basics of Dharma in general and Vajrayana in particular, as well as the aspect of compassion and selected exercises - such as the 37 exercises of the Bodhisattvas or the Lojong.
