Replacing an old garage door with a modern and well-insulated sectional door with a drive - our BAUHAUS workshop moderators Susanne and Liam show you how to do it in this video. First of all, it's a matter of measuring, measuring, measuring. To take the measurements, you need the height and width of the passage opening, the height of the lintel and the reveal. Are the dimensions too small? No problem - there is an auxiliary frame for this, the Aluframe, to which the guide rails can be mounted if necessary. Before you start and dismantle the old door, you should check whether all the material is available. Then it's time to get to work: mount the auxiliary frame if necessary. Attach the vertical, guide and connecting rails. In between, you always have to check the dimensions! If anything goes wrong, the sectional door will not run smoothly later. Next comes the shaft with the torsion spring(s). Once that's done, it's time to insert the sections, mount the steel cables and - tension the torsion springs. This requires maximum concentration and caution! Then comes the motor. Once it is mounted and aligned with the drive rail, it is time to marry the garage door. After one or more test runs and adjustments, the work is done. Useful accessories such as a light barrier, inside and outside switches and an emergency release can be a useful addition, depending on the individual requirements.
