New inspection by the President of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani at the construction site of the High Speed Passante in Florence. This time the focus was on the work of the Iris cutter that is taking care of the excavation of the first tunnel under the Tuscan capital, which once completed will be three kilometers long and will connect Campo di Marte with the future Circondaria station under construction. This was also an opportunity to reiterate that the construction site is proceeding on schedule and that the work will be completed in 2028 with the circulation of high-speed trains in 2029. In the meantime, the assembly of the second cutter, over 110 meters long, is underway, which will have the task of excavating the second parallel tunnel starting from the first half of November. The Florence bypass, once operational, will allow for the reduction of high-speed connection times between the north and the south, but above all it will separate the flows of regional trains from those of long-distance trains, eliminating interference and opening up the possibility of increasing regional trains from the current 414 to 616 regional trains circulating per day.
