Episode 3: Monts du Cézallier (05/26/2024 ‒ 05/27/2024) Between May and July 2024, I had the chance to go on an adventure on a long itinerant walk: the crossing of the Massif Central. Although less steep, traveling through this region was no easier or less original than a high mountain crossing. Indeed, there is no single GR or topoguide covering this route: it was therefore necessary to create your own path along the water, from village to village, by connecting various existing marked trails. With a linear route, it was of course impossible to go everywhere, the massif is so vast. But my goal was nevertheless to connect the highest peaks while staying as much as possible on the ridges, in the same spirit as the HRP in the Pyrenees. The capricious weather of this spring 2024 did not make the journey easy, especially with the harsh climate of Auvergne! My journey began at Volvic train station, north of the Chaîne des Puys near Clermont-Ferrand, and ended at Lac de Saint-Ferréol in the Montagne Noire, a region that forms the southwestern tip of the Massif Central. Living in Toulouse, I also continued the adventure to the pink city in order to walk home ???? This third episode retraces the stages of Cézallier, between Compains and Saint-Saturnin. 00:00 Credits 02:02 Day 7: Compains ‒ Parrot 17:57 Day 8: Parrot ‒ Saint-Saturnin
