Berlin, May 15, 2024: In June, elections to the European Parliament will take place in all 27 EU member states. Why is this election important? Which reforms would strengthen the European Union and make it more capable of taking action? And which reforms are urgently needed, especially for the further European integration process? Can the EU offer the accession candidates - these include the Western Balkan countries, Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Turkey - concrete prospects? The following people debated: Ulf Brunnbauer, Scientific Director of the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) and holder of the Chair of History of Southeast and Eastern Europe at the University of Regensburg Clara Föller, Federal Chairwoman, Young European Federalists Germany Enver Hoxhaj, former Foreign Minister of Kosovo and currently Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo for the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) Christoph Wolfrum, Commissioner for Fundamental Questions of European Policy, EU Coordination and EU External Relations in the Federal Foreign Office Sebastian Lentz, Vice President of the Leibniz Association, opened the event.
