Why study philosophy? Jun.-Prof. Dr. Moritz Schulz What, how and for what? This event uses a specific philosophical problem to give an insight into what you can expect from studying philosophy. It also tries to show why it might be worthwhile to study philosophy. Questions that will concern us in this context are: What topics are covered in philosophy? What skills are developed during the course? Who is a philosophy course suitable for and who is it not? Is philosophy just a losing art with no social relevance? Finally, some possible career paths for female philosophers will be outlined. Prof. Dr. Moritz Schulz is a junior professor at the Philosophy Department at the University of Hamburg. Information and advice for prospective students: www.uni-hamburg.de/orientierung Under “What, how and for what should I study?” other departments and subjects at the University of Hamburg are presented to help you find a career and decide on a subject.
