In the New Testament, the book of Acts of the Apostles is a clear example of persecution. After the ascension of Jesus, the early Christians faced intense persecution, but it was precisely in these times of adversity that the Church expanded exponentially. Persecution forced believers to spread outside of Jerusalem, and as a result, the message of the Gospel reached new regions and cultures. We can see that the Holy Spirit works powerfully in times of difficulty. Adversity is seen as an opportunity to experience the anointing and power of the Spirit in a more intense way. Endurance and suffering provoke a deeper cry and a more intense dependence on God, which can result in revival and more significant spiritual growth. Thus, persecution is not just an obstacle, but a catalyst for strengthening faith, expanding the Kingdom of God, and manifesting the power of the Holy Spirit in ways that might not be possible in times of peace. Rather than discouraging, persecution inspires a greater intensity in the pursuit of God and the spread of His message.
