In Altötting, Bavaria, people are no longer allowed to donate blood to others because it is toxic. They have too much PFAS in their blood. A factory on the outskirts of the town worked with these chemicals. They got into the surrounding soil and thus into the groundwater. PFAS are used to manufacture a wide variety of products with a "non-stick effect": outdoor clothing, cosmetics, baking paper, artificial turf, dental floss and much more. Even though the products themselves are hardly dangerous when used correctly, problems arise during production and disposal. PFAS are suspected of being able to cause serious illnesses. The EU is considering banning the group of substances. STRG_F reporter Johannes has his blood tested. Does he also have PFAS in his blood? And is that a cause for concern?
