What do you think about tariqah and Sufism? Answer: Let us not call it friends of Allah, but let us say it like this: The intercession of the believers is right. In one of the words of the hadith of intercession that Imam Muslim narrated from Abu Said al-Khudri, the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) says: “Allah (swt) said: 'The prophets, angels and the believers interceded and I (the Lord of the worlds) remained. Then He will bring out a group of people from inside the Fire. ' The righteous among the believers, the pious among the believers, Allah (swt) will give them the right to intercede. Whoever follows must both give permission and be pleased with the intercessor and must give permission to the intercessor and be pleased with Allah (swt). For example, one of the greatest intercessors is the angels. Allah (swt) says in the Quran: “How many angels are in the heavens whose intercession is of no benefit except that Allah gives permission for whom He wills and is pleased with.” (53/An-Najm, 26) “Who can intercede with Him except with His permission?” (2/Al-Baqarah, 255) Intercession is dependent on Allah’s permission and consent. Both Allah (swt) must give this permission and consent to the person who will intercede, and Allah must declare to the person who is to be interceded that He has given permission and been pleased with him. Naturally, all those who say, “I will intercede for you” while in the world are frauds. Because, will Allah (swt) be pleased with him on the Day of Judgment? Will He give him permission? Will He be pleased with us? Will He give us such permission, we do not know? All those who say, “I will intercede for you” or “our sheikh will intercede for you” are frauds because they lack this knowledge and they deceive people along with them. The Prophet (pbuh) says in the hadith of intercession -just think, this is Muhammad (pbuh) who was sent as a mercy to the worlds: From Anas (ra): The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “On the Day of Judgment, people will fight each other. They will go to Adam (pbuh) and ask, “Intercede for your children!” He will say, “I have no authority to intercede. Go to Noah (pbuh), the first Messenger sent.” Thereupon, they will go to Noah (pbuh). He will say, “I have no authority. Go only to Abraham (pbuh) because he is the Khalilullah.” The people will go to Abraham (pbuh). But he will say, “I have no authority. Go only to Moses (pbuh) because he is the Word of Allah.” He will say, “I have no authority to do this, but go to Jesus (pbuh), for he is the Spirit of Allah and his word.” Thereupon the people will go to Moses (pbuh). He will say, “I have no authority to do this, but go to Muhammad (pbuh). So they will come to me. I will say to them, “I have authority to intercede.” I will request permission to appear before my Lord. Permission will be given to me. I will stand before Him and praise Allah with the praises that Allah will inspire and which I am not able to at present, and then I will fall in prostration to my Lord. Allah (swt) will say, “O Muhammad, raise your head! Speak whatever you wish and your words will be heard. Whatever you wish for, your request will be fulfilled. Intercede and your intercession will be accepted!” I will say, “O my Lord! My community, my community.” The Lord Almighty will say, “Go (to them)! Whoever has faith in their hearts as much as a grain of wheat or barley, bring them out of the fire!’ I will go and do it!..” (Bukhari, Tawhid 36, 19, 37; Muslim, Iman 322) It should be asked who today’s sheikhs and hodjas are regarding the authority of intercession, which even the prophets remembered their shortcomings while they were in the world and hesitated to be intermediaries between people and Allah. How can people who are not even certain whether they will enter Paradise while they are still in the world promise to intercede for people? Or do these sheikhs, hodjas who say they will intercede believe that they are sinless? Do they say, ‘So I have no sin. I have no such problem.’ While the Prophet (pbuh) said that he would pray and praise in a way he had not done before before before interceding and that he would be granted permission by Allah (swt) to intercede, how can today’s sheikhs and hodjas say that they have the authority to intercede? The Messenger of Allah said to his own daughter Fatima and his relatives: "Save yourselves from the punishment of Allah. By Allah, I cannot save you from the punishment of Allah."
