Returning to the issue of the advancing sea, another dawn in Baía da Traição. The increasingly strong sea is taking back its space. Houses are falling to the ground. The devaluation of properties is becoming increasingly evident. Losses for the owners who are promoting their properties. There are several houses for sale literally in the sea water. We have real images of the changes in the main avenue of Baía over the last 12 years (PB-008). We show the reason that will lead the city of Baía da Traição to become an island, or perhaps two islands. The beautiful beach on the coast of Paraíba, whose residents are paying the price for having urbanized and inhabited a space that naturally belongs to the sea. We show the situation on the coast. The wreckage scattered across the beach. The attempt by the population to save their properties by building a barrier with rocks. As a reminder, for those who haven't seen the previous video, the first one about Baía is available here on the channel. We gave a general explanation of the problem on this beach, showing that the problem is serious along the entire coast. We divided the city into 3 areas. In this video, we focus specifically on the northern region. Be amazed by a sequence of comparative images of the PB-008 highway, which within the city becomes Rua Dom Pedro II. Always comparing 2012 to 2024. In other words, a 12-year interval that has already transformed the beach area and will continue to destroy properties. See how it was before and how it is now. We can say that Rua Pedro II is doomed to collapse. The houses on the left side of the street are gone and soon they will be on the right side. Decades ago, the Bay was even more beautiful and organized. Through the images, we can see how it is becoming day by day, with an abandoned look. It seems like a place of no value, that corner that no one wants anymore. Nice houses that existed there, that they dared to build on the sand of the beach and now they are gone. The sea is taking over the territory that was already its own. We also realize, through the images, that this problem is not new. It has been happening since the last century. In the images from 2012, we see that houses were already being built close to the water. This situation has only gotten worse, including the consequences of global warming. The difference is that, in the past, this situation was not so widespread. It is truly regrettable to see losses disappearing, but on the other hand, let's look on the bright side: the sea is alive, it has not been silenced, and it continues to show who is really in charge. While many people are losing their heritage, Baía da Traição is gradually taking on a new shape, a new map. In the northern area of the beach, between the city and the “village”, the sea is forcing what was previously just a discreet elevation of land, a small extension of the cliff. Sea on one side and river on the other: the river flooded, in fact, considering that this is an area where the river water spreads out below the sea level. Little by little, the sea is coming in and fulfilling what was already foreseen before these people even lived there. A natural “invasion” designed by Nature itself. In a few decades, at this point in the strait of land, the river and the sea will be united. The central area of the Bay will become, let's say, an island. That's right: an island. Or maybe two islands. The ideal situation would be to urgently expropriate and demolish the properties along Pedro II Street and then build a concrete bridge to the “village”, allowing the river's relationship with the sea to flow between a few pillars (as few as possible), at the discretion of Nature. There are no plausible reasons to think this is bad. Thinking about the macro aspect of this fact, the results will probably be positive, including in economic, social and touristic aspects. We should not try to prevent this union between the river and the sea. Any human intervention in this space should only function as a palliative, generating unnecessary expenses for society. We need to respect the living Nature that is acting there. Social problems arising from this dynamic between river and sea, such as, for example, the expropriation and demolition of these properties, social impacts, in addition to the issue of water supply, are solutions that must be sought by the political class, by municipal and state administrations. It is worth remembering that the partial result of a study carried out by official bodies should be published in January. They will indicate urgent measures to be taken in the erosion areas of the Paraíba coast. We hope that they do NOT decide on palliative methods. After all, what is the impact of a decision to expropriate and demolish a few dozen houses compared to a decision to change the movement and force of Nature? There is no comparison. .
