An unforgettable visit to the Museum of Sarakatsani Tradition in Aisymi, Evros Prefecture. Continuing our journey through the villages of Greece, we were lucky enough to visit a unique museum that took us back in time and brought us into contact with a forgotten aspect of Greek history. The Museum of Sarakatsani Tradition in Aisymi, Evros is a treasure trove that reveals the richness of Sarakatsani culture and the lifestyle of the Greek nomadic herders of Thrace. As we toured the halls of the museum, we were impressed by the rich collection of objects that depicted the daily life of the Greek Sarakatsani shepherds. From their traditional costumes and weaving tools, to cooking utensils and written relics, each exhibit had a story to tell us. We were particularly impressed by the representation of the traditional Sarakatsani tent/hut that transported us mentally to the mountains and plains where the Sarakatsani people once lived. We were able to imagine their lives, the difficulties they faced and their dedication to the genuine Greek tradition. The visit to the Sarakatsani Tradition Museum was an experience that enriched us culturally and made us appreciate the history and culture of our country more!
