When we least expect it, without warning, God withdraws, "all the taste of spiritual experience disappears (...) it is faith that enters a desert". After long years of consolation, heart to heart with God, it can happen that the believer feels rejected, "facing a wall" as little Thérèse confessed. Faced with such a "night of faith" that John of the Cross describes as the feeling "of being supported and yet without support", it can happen that the faithful feel themselves descending into increasingly obscure regions made of successive strippings. A terrible ordeal, which can be endured for months, even years and where psychological fragilities are mixed that blur the spiritual dimension of this imposed experience. To accompany us throughout this documentary, pastors, theologians, speakers, priests enlighten us, each in their own way, on this intimate suffering of a faith that seems without object.
