One of the days of June in 1942. When Gaddafi was born in one of the former Bedouin settlements near the city of Sirte. But to understand Gaddafi's story, we have to go back to September 28, 1911. On that date, Italian military forces attacked the port of Tripoli. Gaddafi officially apologized to the families of the victims of Pan Am Flight 103 and took responsibility for the downing of the plane. After these events, the United Nations lifted all sanctions on Libya. In 2004, Gaddafi announced that he would destroy all chemical weapons and mass killings. George Bush and Tony Blair liked this very much and they quickly proposed profitable investments in Libyan soil. MI6 even arrested two members of Gaddafi's opposition in Bangkok and handed them over to the Libyan government. Gaddafi's return to the international arena also changed his position in the Arab world. From here on, he did not pay much attention to the Arab world, but rather sought extensive changes in the African continent. In the mid-2000s, Gaddafi sought a grand alliance between all African countries. One Africa, with one passport, without borders, with a powerful army, and of course a leader who must be Muammar Gaddafi. Well, of course, the same reaction that the leaders of the Arab countries had to Gaddafi in the previous years, this time the leaders of the African countries showed the same reaction to this strange proposal of Gaddafi and they did not care about it. But this was not the end of Gaddafi's dreams. In 2008, he asked 200 kings and leaders of major African tribes to organize a coronation ceremony for Gaddafi and recognize him as the king of kings in Africa. Well, it was not unusual for Gaddafi to do such a thing, but this move had consequences. One positive point was that the gates of Libya were opened to all Africans, but the problem was that the Libyan population was all Muslim and most of the African immigrants were Christians, and the Libyan people were not very interested in the presence of Christian immigrants from other parts of Africa. But whatever it was, Libya had never experienced such political and even economic progress since 1969. Libya had achieved an economic boom. Gaddafi did different things every day until 2009, some of them were strange and some of them had very positive results for Libya and even the African continent. It seemed that nothing could dissuade Gaddafi from his wishes or even stop him. Everything was going well for Gaddafi until Mohamed Bouazizi, a young Tunisian peddler, set himself on fire in Tunisia and lost his life. From then on, neither for Gaddafi nor for other Arab countries, nothing was the same. Revolutions took place, the story of which we have already fully explained in the Arab Spring video. The death of Mohamed Bouazizi caused widespread anger in Tunisia and as a result the Tunisian government fell. The Arab Spring had begun. But if this Arab Spring reached Libya, it could create a storm. Gaddafi still did not know about the realities of the society and felt that the Libyan people loved him. It was on February 15, 2011 that the first protests happened in Libya. Ben Qazi fell and then this process reached other parts of Libya. It was clear from the beginning that Gaddafi could not overcome this public anger. The one who had shown a good face of himself in recent years turned into a rabid dog again and attacked the protesters in the most severe way. The Libyan army marched towards Ben Ghazi. At this point, NATO entered the pit and destroyed the Ben Ghazi area. He declared no flight. Then American planes bombed Gaddafi's military bases. Gaddafi, who had recently made friends with the West and the Americans, did not expect such a move at all. At the same time, the propaganda of France and Qatar started working and constantly incited the people against the Gaddafi regime. Libya did not have a proper media and everything was out of the hands of the Libyan government. All weapons were sent from France and America to the Libyan fighters, and from the very beginning, the protests in Libya had become like a civil war. In this context, the words of Saif Salam Gaddafi, the son of Muammar Gaddafi, are really worth listening to. Saif al-Islam said these words to his compatriots in those busy days. However, the amount of weapons in the hands of the protesters was large, and NATO provided full military support to the protesters. The weak Libyan army had no choice but to retreat. This internal battle lasted for 8 months and 20 thousand people were killed. Gaddafi did not negotiate during all this time and only issued fire and killing orders to the forces under his command.
