7.8.2021. With a new rear tire, 3 tubes, a repair kit for Aerothan and a large portion of enthusiasm, I want to drive to the Hanseatic city of #Lübeck today. A project that was born at the beginning of July. Lübeck is one of my favorite cities in Germany and, although I want to get there quickly, I don't take the shortest route because I want to make a little detour to the #Müritz and, since I'm already nearby, I can also take a look at #Schwerin. The first stage, Neuruppin, brings a lot of bad luck: I end up on an impassable dirt road and therefore have to make a wide detour on asphalt. After that, my navigation system crashes several times and I get lost. I even drive a long way back towards Berlin or Wulkow. I haven't yet learned that such incidents are the norm. A tour never goes exactly as planned, or rarely. But my mood suffers because of it: in the late afternoon, thunderstorms and heavy rain are forecast in Lübeck, with a weather warning. I really have to hurry! As always, I underestimated the tour. 1300 meters of altitude didn't scare me, but after 200 kilometers I feel like I've done 300. The section between #Röbel and Schwerin is not an easy hop, contrary to my expectations. Shortly before Schwerin, I almost decided to abandon the tour. I'm especially afraid of the weather warning. But I recover very well in the city: no headwind, a great atmosphere and lots of sights. Then it's time to move on! The rain that was forecast catches me 50 kilometers from Lübeck and is even heavier than I thought: I feel like I'm in a swimming pool, I can't even breathe properly. I couldn't film this moment. Luckily, it only lasts half an hour. After another long detour to avoid another muddy forest path, I reach Lübeck. An indescribable joy, I even have a few tears in my eyes. I learned one thing today: never underestimate the altitude, even if there is no steep hill! #longdistance #roadbiketour
