The swamps of Mesopotamia in Iraq are drying up due to a lack of water. One man is fighting to avert the catastrophe. He wants to save an ecosystem that was once one of the richest in the world and from which people could live well. His name is Jassim Al Asadi and he is risking his life for his commitment. Last year he was kidnapped, held captive and tortured for several days. Threats against environmental activists are commonplace in Iraq. This is why many of them have fled abroad, but Jassim decided to continue his fight, whatever the cost. At his side is a new generation of young activists who do not want to accept the impending catastrophe. Together they are fighting to preserve a legacy and the ideal of a different Iraq. #iraq #watershortage #environment Video available until 05/10/2027 Link to the media library: https://www.arte.tv/de/videos/119016-...
