One of the most popular frame rates in the world of videography is 24 frames per second. Usually, most movies use this frame rate. I sometimes use 24 and sometimes 25 frames per second for YouTube videos. But there are some situations in which we should not use frame rate 24. In this video, I explained these conditions to you. 1. When you want to recreate the atmosphere of old movies: Silent movies like Charlie Chaplin movies were shot at around 16 frames per second. If you want to create such a mood in your video, you should set the frame rate to 16 fps. 2. For classic animation: To recreate the feel of classic animations, you should set the frame rate to 12 fps instead of 24 fps. Back then, we didn't have the 3D computer technology we have today, so cartoons were drawn by hand frame by frame. 12 frames per second was standard at the time. 3. For Action Sequences: You may be surprised to know that action sequences in movies are often not shot at 24fps, but at 21 or 22fps. Cameras cannot normally record at this frame rate, so the frame rate is set later in software. This slight reduction in frame rate can actually help create more excitement and action in the scene. 4. For recording TV shows or any other standard video recording: In the US, NTSC systems typically use 30 frames per second. I'm not sure of the exact Iranian standard, but some projects are shot at 25fps, while others are shot at 50 or 60fps. However, if you're shooting a standard video, you should record at 30fps, which is the default setting on most mobile phones. 5. For B-roll footage: B-roll footage is footage used to complement the main narrator in a video. For example, imagine I'm talking about color grading, and to illustrate what I mean, I show some color grading videos. This is B-roll footage. B-roll is not usually shot at 24 frames per second. Instead, it's better to shoot it at 60fps, 120fps or even 240fps. This is because B-roll footage is often shown in slow motion, so you want to record it at a high frame rate so you can slow it down without losing quality. 6. To emulate Peter Jackson's style: When Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit director Peter Jackson was making The Hobbit, he decided to shoot it at 48 frames per second instead of the standard 24 frames per second. This was a major innovation in the film industry and you could use 48fps if you wanted to emulate Jackson's style. YouTube also supports 48 fps playback. 7. For sports highlights: You've probably seen this before: you're watching a sports game and when a goal is scored or some other big moment happens, they show you a slow-motion replay of the action. To create these slow motion replays, the footage must be shot at a very high frame rate, typically around 300 frames per second. This is because the playback system is usually 30fps, so filming at 300fps allows them to slow down the footage by 10x. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– You can't become a YouTuber with a mobile phone • The minimum equipment needed to operate d...
