Renata Semizzi guides us on a visit to Capernaum, the city that Jesus chose as his residence in Galilee, living in Peter's house. Today there are considerable remains, the result of various Franciscan archaeological campaigns, especially of the synagogue. The foundations of the ancient Byzantine church built on the domus ecclesia of Peter's house are also clearly visible. On these remains, leaving them visible, stands the modern church of Ildo Avetta, consecrated in 1990 after ten years of difficult work. The visit also commemorates the great Franciscan archaeologists to whom we owe this splendid site: Fathers Gaudenzio Orfali, Virgilio Corbo and Stanislao Loffreda ofm.
