Quickly passing Figueres and Girona, we reach the coast again at Sant Feliu de Guixols and follow the winding corniche to Tossa de Mar. How different this part of the Costa Brava is, it has nothing in common with the typical image of the tourist stronghold plastered with hotels. We want to stay two nights and choose the Cala Llevado campsite, located in the bay of the same name next door. As self-sufficient campers, we do not need electricity, water or chemical toilet disposal, but Kalli is safe here while we walk. A footpath leads from the campsite across the green, vegetation-rich coastal landscape, past small bays. We reach Tossa from the sea side, which is guarded by one of the towers of the old castle on the headland. And then we are in the hustle and bustle of the small streets with their more and less useful shops and many restaurants. It takes a lot of time to get through here, and it is not boring for a moment. The street in front of the promenade is traffic-calmed, like the old town streets, and there are hardly any cars to be seen in the entire city center. The city belongs to the people. In the morning we treat ourselves to a café con leche with a tostado con tomate, and at lunch we have a menu with a view of the sea. Spanish cuisine is always a pleasure, but unfortunately it is still underrated compared to other countries. What is particularly nice is that in Spain you can get a good meal at any time of day, in contrast to its northern neighbor, which still sticks to its strict anachronistic schedule. We quickly get used to the carajillo after dinner - with Spanish brandy, of course, and not the cream whiskey drink that has become fashionable. We end the two days under the pine trees of the campsite, surrounded by the scent of the trees, the sounds of nature and the sound of the nearby sea. We want to drive past Barcelona, ​​we already know the city from previous visits. Our next destination is Tarragona and the Ebro Delta, where the rice for paella is grown.
