In this visual chronology we review how the DANA that hit Valencia became an unprecedented catastrophe in Spain, especially affecting the Valencian Community and Albacete. With maps and data we explain how the fury unleashed in a few hours has become the worst meteorological event of the century so far. Streets turned into rivers, cars dragged like toys and houses submerged under an unstoppable torrent. Towns such as Utiel, Requena and Chiva reached historic rainfall figures, while rivers and reservoirs overflowed, bringing water to unsuspected heights. We will follow the course of the rivers that have overflowed until they reached the metropolitan areas of Valencia with devastating impact. Infrastructures overwhelmed, shopping centres converted into improvised shelters and roads such as the A-3 and V-31 cut off. This chronology is a visual testimony of the tragedy, where each image reflects the magnitude of the destruction and the human and material impact of this historic disaster. #valencia #dana #disaster
