Baptism saves, it is 1 Pet 3:21. It is preceded by the new birth for adults who will have to receive training in order to know what they are committing to. The covenant with Abraham (circumcision Gn 17) wanted by God implies circumcision and therefore children. And with Jesus the covenant also continues with children Acts 2:38-39 / Acts 16:31. Why refuse baptism to a child? Because he cannot commit, but it is the child's own not to commit, he is not an adult.... it is his parents who commit for him. Besides, is that not what they did when they decided on the child's arrival?
