Producing energy in a climate-neutral way - that's what bull fattener Andreas Thesing and 44 other farmers from Heek want. That's why they're participating in a large biomethane plant. The idea behind it: The farmers dump their animals' manure into the large fermenters. Thanks to the latest technology, biomethane is produced exclusively from residual materials. This is to be fed into the gas network and sold as fuel at a bio-CNG filling station. Construction work on the plant has been underway since spring. Andreas and his colleagues want to feed their first own gas into the network soon. But they're taking a big risk. The project costs a total of 25 million euros. They have to fight financial difficulties again and again.
