In the second lecture of the series The Viking World, Irene García Losquiño, a doctor in Scandinavian Studies from the University of Aberdeen and researcher at the University of Santiago de Compostela, addresses the passage of the Vikings through the Iberian Peninsula and analyses the type of relationships – both of conquest and aggression as well as collaboration and friendship – that they maintained with the local peoples. In the 9th and 10th centuries, the Vikings carried out far-reaching campaigns in the areas of the Guadalquivir River, with incursions into the Levant and continuing through the Mediterranean, and in the kingdoms of Galicia and León. As the lecturer demonstrates from documentary and archaeological sources, in these latter territories there were alliances between the Vikings and nobles of the area. https://canal.march.es/es/coleccion/v...
