Excursion of July 21, 2022. In the company of Fausto and Giovanni. in those days the temperatures were high and muggy... here we found 15 degrees and fresh air!! Departure at 6 in the morning, from Riale. We set off at the first light of dawn. It had rained during the night, so everything shines and gives a magical atmosphere to the valleys that surround us. We meet two roe deer, mountain frogs and several marmots. After a good coffee at the Maria Luisa refuge, we enter Valrossa for our first time. Everyone's expectations are high and will not be disappointed. We reach the first peak, Punta di Valrossa at 2968 m, swallowed up by the fog and thicker gray clouds. The view is unfortunately blocked, but the cold cheers us up. Great fun and another peak awaits us anyway. We now aim for Corno Brunni. We go down and go back up. The total positive difference in altitude will therefore be high... a good 1800 m.. which I will notice....:-D The views change. We are above the Gries valley. We first reach Lake Brunni, stunning, like in a crater, in a lunar landscape. From the top the view extends towards Arbola and the glaciers. Towards Lake Castel and the peaks that surround it. We walk along a stretch of the ridge and then we treat ourselves to a well-deserved lunch break.. with a super view! For the return we close the loop by swooping down into the Bettelmatt valley, on unstable rocks, where more attention is needed. We now skirt Lake Morasco on the GTA path and return to Riale, after 9 hours of actual walking. A cold footbath and a beer to worthily conclude this fantastic day. See you next time!!!
