Walking along the path that climbs up Mombracco (this is the name of Mount Bracco in the Cottian Alps) in the Municipality of Sanfront (province of Cuneo), you come across this extraordinary and very particular site where everything seems to have stopped at that time when man lived in perfect harmony with nature. Situated at 652 meters above sea level, the characteristic village of Balma Boves was built under an enormous rocky overhang. Its peculiar appearance, with stone houses with flat roofs, recalls that of the Indian "pueblos Navajos" of North America. At first glance it almost seems like a medieval village uninhabited for a long time. And yet, the last inhabitants left this almost fairy-tale place, due to its location and construction, towards the end of the 1950s.
