About :

We went to Piedmont, more precisely in Val Formazza in the Frua area at an altitude of 1650m to admire the Toce (or Frua) waterfall and the Morasco dam. These waterfalls have a drop of 143m and a width at the base of 60m which make them the largest and most beautiful of the entire Alpine arc. They are fed by the Toce river and Lake Morasco, a basin created by the homonymous dam not far from these waterfalls. To reach these enchanting places you have to take the E62 to Gravellona Toce, continue until shortly after Domodossola via the SS 33 and then deviate and begin the climb towards Riale on the SS 659. Once you arrive there is a convenient parking lot in the area of ​​the famous Hotel. You can admire a spectacular view of the valley, thanks also to a walkway over the waterfalls and do many excursions in the area. Don't miss the road that goes from the waterfalls to the dam, passing through the small village of Riale and admire its dominant and characteristic little church. These waterfalls have daily and seasonal opening hours, which can be consulted on their website and it would be advisable to check before going to visit them.
