In this episode, we'll take a tour of Greenwich and the east end of London: from Cutty Sark to Greenwich Observatory and from Covent Garden to the Tower. I'll also tell you about the London Underground and how to leave your luggage in London inexpensively. While we're walking, I'll tell you about tea clippers (and other things), how they fought steamships, about the famous tea clipper races and their structure, about where meridians are counted from and whether it's possible to be in two hemispheres at the same time (of course it is!). I'll tell you about Covent Garden and His Majesty's Theatre, about Tchaikovsky and Mozart. We'll check if Russian culture is being cancelled, and then I'll tell you how and why performances were cancelled in London and why the theatre became a warehouse. There will be a story about Nelson and Captain Nemo, Saint Clement and the Devil's Pub, why Christopher Wren rebuilt London and who the kings visited. There will be a story about moving gates and a tour of St. Paul's Cathedral.
