Tamara de Weijer, general practitioner, talks about her passion for nutrition and lifestyle in the documentary 'Nutrition as medicine - in the footsteps of doctor Moerman'. 'I see myself as a regular general practitioner, with an enormous passion for nutrition and lifestyle. At least half and perhaps three quarters of all complaints I treat are caused by lifestyle. I am not against medication, but I think that we should offer a lifestyle solution for lifestyle-related problems and that medication comes second.' She also talks about her mother who died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 53. In the treatment of cancer, nutrition should play a prominent role, she believes. 'No ready-made meals. But a lot of attention for nutrition, exercise and sleep. You should treat people with cancer as if they were top athletes.'
