XXXII ORDINARY SUNDAY (B/_ABC) (p. 529) First reading. 1 Kings 17, 10-16 The widow made a cake out of her flour and brought it to Elijah Reading from the First Book of Kings In those days the prophet Elijah went on a journey and came to Zarephath. When he reached the city gate, he saw a widow there gathering firewood. Calling her, he said: "Please bring me a little water in a vessel to drink." As she went to bring it, he shouted after her, saying: "Bring me a morsel of bread in your hand!" - "As your Lord lives," she answered, "I have nothing baked." , just a handful of flour in a pot and a little oil in a jug. Right now I'm picking up sticks to fix this for myself and my son when I get home. We will eat and then we will die." "Do not be afraid," said Elijah to her, "go and do as you have said. But first make a flatbread and bring it to me, and then fix something for yourself and your son. For the Lord, the God of Israel, has spoken thus: 'The pot of flour will not fail, nor the jar of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sends rain on the earth.'" She went and did as Elijah had said. She herself and he and her whole family had food for a long time. The flour did not run out in the pot nor did the oil in the jug run out, as the Lord had spoken through Elijah. Hebrews 9, 24-28 Christ is sacrificed once to pay for the sins of all Reading from the Epistle to the Jews Christ did not enter a temple made with hands - an image of the real one, but into heaven itself, to intercede for us from now on, standing before the face of God. And he did not enter to offer himself again and again, as the high priest does, who enters the holy place every year with foreign blood, then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to destroy sin with his sacrifice. And just as it is appointed for men to die once and stand judgment, so Christ, who was sacrificed once to pay for the sins of all, will appear a second time, not for sins, but for the salvation of those who wait for him. It is the word of God. Afterword before the Gospel. Mt 5, 3 P. Alleluia. - Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. - Mr. Alleluia. Gospel Long form Mk 12, 38-44 Short form Mk 12, 41-44. This poor widow threw in the most of all ✠ From the holy Gospel according to Mark At that time, while teaching, Jesus said to the crowd: "Beware of the scribes who like to walk in long clothes, to be greeted in the squares, to take the first seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. They devour widows' houses under the guise of a long prayer. A very severe judgment awaits them.'' Many of the rich gave generously. One weary widow came and threw in two coins, that is, skatik. Calling his disciples together, Jesus said to them: "Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in the most of all those who put into the offering box. Everyone gave from what was available to them, and she threw in all that she had, all her resources, out of her poverty.” This is the word of the Lord.
