We travelled via Modena, Ancona and - by ferry - Igoumenitsa. Our stops in Albania were Saranda, Gjirokastra, Pogradec, Berat, Tirana, Kukes, the Valbona Valley and finally Shkodra. In Montenegro we visited Kotor, Pljevlja and Herceg Novi. Then we went to Sarajevo and Mostar. In Croatia we visited Dubrovnik from Cavtat and then set off on our journey home via Pirovac, Lovran, Sillian (AUT) and Tannheim (AUT). Albania is motorcycle country, there is no doubt about that. Roads, landscape, accommodation and restaurants leave nothing to be desired. The people there are very hospitable. Almost everyone speaks English, we never had any communication problems. The cities of Gjirokastra and Berat are quite rightly UNESCO World Heritage sites. Actually, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina were just on the way back, but since we still had time, we spent a few more days in both countries, which was well worth it. Kotor is an absolute must, as are Sarajevo and Mostar. And of course you can't miss Dubrovnik either... In the first part, after arriving via Italy and Greece, we travel to Albania; in the second part, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia. The journey home then goes via Slovenia and Austria. Including Germany, it was a trip through nine countries that we will never forget...
