It all started when a friend asked me to run a 5km marathon with him. It doesn't seem like much, but it's tough when you're in your late 20s and haven't run since PE class. I don't have the energy I had when I was younger, not to mention I'm overweight as an adult. Anyway, I had a month to prepare. Want to know how I did it? In short, I made small progress. Of course, I had to watch my diet and drink lots of water. And I trained slowly but surely. I bought a new pair of running shoes and my challenge began. Every day I recorded my progress in a journal. I'll probably be sore for the rest of the month. - My trainer suggested cycling as part of my cross-training, so I cycled 3.0 miles. - My energy levels are soaring. I'm no longer feeling sleepy in the afternoon. - I weighed myself today and I've lost 5.5 lbs! I'm convinced that jogging is the fastest way to lose weight. - I ran 10 minutes straight this day with no difficulty. I'm almost there! - My trainer told me to stay hydrated. Drink 2 liters of water by dividing your weight by 0.45 (half) x 0.02 liters. In my case, I drink 2 liters. - Exercise improves your skin because it improves blood circulation. - My trainer showed me how to use a tennis ball to massage sore spots, so I massaged the soles of my feet. - Listening to music while running makes time pass faster. - I ate a lot of bananas. Potassium helps to balance the electrolytes lost during long runs. - It was a fairly easy and enjoyable run, so my training plan seems to have been on the right track.
