The topic is the mystery story of the giant hand guarding the Kalimantan forest that made Russian scientists who were going to carry out an expedition run away in fear and panic. The story begins with a group of Russian scientists who were sent by their government to carry out an expedition to Kadap Island, Kalimantan in the context of the Kalimantan road project (projakal) between Indonesia and the Soviet Union. Kadap Island itself is located in a triangle between Martapura City, Marabahan and Rantau, more or less its position is similar to the Bermuda Triangle. There are many mysterious stories that accompany the existence of this island for a long time. For example, about the Datu who guard their nature, the ghosts who live in the forest, or animals whose shapes and sizes are beyond human reason. When the expedition team arrived, the forest was so dense that even sunlight had difficulty penetrating it. That is one of the reasons why the local community calls the area Kadap Island, which means returning in the middle of darkness. Armed with information that there was once a former Dutch oil field in this area, Russian researchers dared to enter Kadap Island even though they had been warned by the local community. These Russian researchers certainly did not just believe in mystical and supernatural things and ghosts on Kadap Island as believed by the people around the forest, just like westerners in general. The longer the expedition team continued to go deeper into the damp darkness of Kadap Island. To help remind them of the way, these Russian researchers tied tree trunks that they had passed within a distance of several tens of meters. The strangeness began to appear When the expedition team had almost entered the middle of Kadap Island, they were surprised by the discovery of a large conical hat being hung on a large diameter tree trunk. This giant hat was very frightening for the researchers because of its size which was beyond reason, dozens of times the size of a human head. Seeing the frightening conditions, among them there was a local guide who immediately ran in fear towards the exit of the forest followed by the expedition team who also ran helter-skelter. They thought that if the hat was that big, then you can imagine how big the creature wearing the hat was. Maybe they could be eaten by the creature alive with just one stomp. Scary. As they ran out of the forest, they began to hear strange and frightening sounds from inside the forest. They immediately contacted their headquarters via HT radio to immediately ask to be picked up by helicopter. The helicopter team was sent to the location to pick up the researchers who were trapped in the forest, but strangely when they arrived at the forest location, the helicopter only dared to circle in the air and did not dare to land at all. The expedition team tried to contact the helicopter radio regarding the reason why the helicopter could not land immediately. The pilot who was contacted told in a nervous tone that they could not land because there was a very large hand emerging from the forest of Kadap Island and wanted to catch the helicopter every time the helicopter tried to land. Very scary. Finally, the expedition team did not dare to continue into the forest of Kadap Island. The road marker cloth that they had tied to the trees was also in an erratic position as if someone had moved its position and some had come loose. They only dared to rest on the edge of the forest until they could be evacuated the next day. The Russian expedition team was then declared a failure and they never dared to return to the Kalimantan forest to carry out further expeditions. This has an impact on the sustainability of Kadap Island which continues to be maintained. The remains of the expedition team's helicopter can still be seen in the city of Banjar Baru, South Kalimantan.
