Without taking into account the purchase price, the Codalunga's numbers are impressive: It is equipped with the sophisticated twin-turbo V12 that the Huayra BC Roadster also uses, which here produces 840 hp and 1,100 Nm of torque from 2 to 5.6 thousand revolutions per minute. Drive is transmitted exclusively to the rear wheels via the automatic transmission (one clutch) from Xtrac, a company that manufactures equipment almost exclusively for racing cars. Its tires are extra wide to handle all that power, the ceramic discs on its six-piston brakes are massive, and thanks to plenty of carbon fiber, it weighs just 1,280kg. Fun fact: it weighs exactly the same as a GR Yaris! But the numbers do not fully explain the situation. A feature that made the Huayra stand out from the first time we saw it, are the active aerodynamic panels on the hood and at the back. Each one moves independently, working with the driver's inputs to the steering wheel and pedals, to allow the car to not only turn, but also brake much better. To appreciate how big a role they play in driving, you definitely have to experience it. And that was exactly what was on our agenda for the day. A Friday that I will never forget.
