Professor Veronika Grimm, a member of the Economic Advisory Council, has critically assessed the economic policy of the traffic light government and warned against too much state intervention. In an interview, Grimm stressed that state funding projects often block private investment and are not sustainable. Instead, she called for the state to concentrate on its core tasks: creating attractive framework conditions through lower taxes, less bureaucracy and better infrastructure. Grimm also spoke out against a weakening of the debt brake and called a reform "a phantom discussion". High levels of debt endanger economic stability in the long term, as the example of France shows.
