The German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS) is on duty all year round, whatever the weather. The sea rescuers set off from 54 stations in the North and Baltic Seas. Many people owe them help and sometimes even their lives. The missions can also be dangerous for the helpers themselves - hurricane gusts and huge waves are sometimes part of the daily routine for the crews. The report accompanies the crew of a sea rescue cruiser at the mouth of the Elbe.
