What are the reactions and symptoms that should alert you? And how can we get out of post-traumatic stress disorder? Post-traumatic stress disorder is a reactive disorder that can appear following a traumatic event. An event is said to be traumatic when it causes a feeling of intense fear. It can also be a strong and very intense feeling of helplessness and a feeling of horror. We speak of a so-called traumatic event when we are confronted with death, the fear of dying or when we are affected or attacked in our physical integrity. We can also have the feeling of experiencing a traumatic event without being directly concerned, but by being a witness. There are three triggers for post-traumatic stress disorder. The first trigger is a natural disaster. Another type of trigger for post-traumatic stress disorder is a human or technical accident. It can be a work accident, a train or traffic accident or an explosion. The third trigger for post-traumatic stress disorder is what we call an act of interpersonal violence such as abuse, mistreatment, assault, attacks, rape, etc. In this category, we find a significant portion of people who will trigger a post-traumatic stress disorder. There are two types of traumatic events. The first type is a unique and unexpected traumatic event that has occurred in your life, which results in a vital and acute threat to your person. It is one-off and only happens once. The second type of traumatic event is the prolonged and repeated type over time. It is a threat that is there in your life, but which is not one-off. It continues and repeats itself and you have no possibility of predicting the evolution of this event.
