The Soviet Union has been gone for 30 years, but Sovetskaya Gavan remains. The city on the coast of the bay of the same name, which was once called the Imperial Harbor, was only a small Orochi settlement in the mid-19th century — only a few dozen people. But already in the 20th century it became a significant trade and industrial center — fish was caught and processed here, timber was harvested, and ships were repaired. There was even a naval base in Sovetskaya Gavan to protect the eastern borders from attack by a potential enemy.
