Just as Lucifer, before revolting, had plans for himself and for all of Creation; Saint Peter also, before he fell, had plans for his apostolate alongside Jesus. God, however, wanted to crucify the plans of both, asking them to humbly accept the divine plans. Lucifer, in his pride, did not accept humiliating himself and preferred to act against God's project, thus ceasing to be an angel of light to become the prince of darkness. Saint Peter, on the contrary, although he fell to the point of being called Satan, allowed himself to be humbled by Christ and configured to Him, so that he became the humble prince of the Apostles, to whom Our Lord entrusted his Church. This homily was given by Father Paulo Ricardo on June 29, 2023, when celebrating the Votive Mass of Saints Peter and Paul in the Cristo Rei Parish, in Várzea Grande (MT).
