Samos Island is a Greek island almost within swimming distance of Turkey, just across from Kuşadası. There is a ferry from Turkey to Samos every day. But how we got there, which bays and villages we visited in Samos, are all in the video! It was the longest video of my life. :) Let's see, we are starting to discover this beautiful Greek island... . We toured around Samos by boat and the inner parts by renting a car. It was the longest story I have ever told on YouTube. Because the island is bigger than I expected and it turns out there are many places to explore. We spent a lot of time in the Vathi center, Kokkari, Monalates, Karlovası and Pythagorion cities in Samos, and in beautiful bays such as Posidonio and Tsapoli. . Ferries operate from Turkey to 3 points in Samos. It is possible to cross from Sığacık to Karlovası, from Kuşadası to Vathi or Pythagorion. There is also a return from the island to Turkey every evening. The journey takes a little over 1 hour. Normally, Samos is one of the Greek islands that requires visa upon arrival. This practice, which was stopped during the pandemic, is about to start again these days. . I can say that we were welcomed very hospitably, especially by Yannis and Anna, whom we met in Tsapoli in Samos. The island shopkeepers are very polite and friendly. From the staff who helped us during mooring at the port to the restaurant owners and the islanders we chatted with on the street, we were generally greeted very positively. Everyone knows a few words of Turkish. We started to learn the most commonly used words in Greek. . Our love for the Aegean Sea is well-known. There are also very nice Aegean bays in Samos. Although the water is a little cool, this was not a problem since it is something we generally like. The Samos village where we enjoyed swimming the most was Kokkari. It is best to continue to other villages and bays without wasting too much time in the Vathi center. Kokkari is both a cute town with its houses and taverns and its sea was magnificent. . The town of Pthyogorion takes its name from the mathematician and philosopher Pythagoras. Since Pythagoras was born and raised on the island of Samos, he is very important for the island. There is a huge statue of him next to the port in the town. The airport is also very close to here and Samos is an island that receives a lot of tourists with many flights from Europe. .
