Zoltan Buzasi was a well-known athlete in the circle of professional climbers and skiers. In the period 1999-2002, the native of Oradea climbed the Grossglockner peak (3700 m) in Austria, the Matterhorn peak (4478 m) in Switzerland, the Monte Rosa Regina Margareta peak (4634 m) in Italy and the 1800 m north face of the Eiger mountain (3970 m) from Switzerland. As a founding member of the Public Rescue Service Salvamont Bihor, Buzasi participated in the organization and coordination of numerous rescue actions, being the head of the expedition that, in 2003, set out in search of the four climbers from Oradea who died in an avalanche in the Făgăraş mountains. In 2001, the Oradea native participated in the European Ski-Mountain Championship in Italy, and in 2003, together with his teammate Torok Janos, he won first place at the National Ski-Mountain Championship. After his death, the Kentaur Sports Club from Oradea initiated a ski mountaineering competition named after him the Buzasi Zoltan Memorial Cup.
