We started on Creasta Fagarasului from the town of Lazaret, on the red lane. This is the only marker on our route for five days. We started from the West and will finish in the East, in Plaiul Foii. On the first day, we reached below Vafrul Suru, covering a difference in level of approximately 2000 m. There we placed our bivouac bags and stayed overnight. We would have liked to reach Lake Avrig, but time was short and we could not. This was also the reason why I walked about seven km a night. We were pleasantly surprised by the night view of Sibiu and the sky full of stars. Although we were very sleepy, we stayed for a good few minutes to watch the Perseids glide across the sky, before hiding our noses in the warmth of the sleeping bag. We woke up before sunrise, after only three hours of sleep, with the intention of recovering the remaining kilometers from the previous day. We had a challenging day ahead of us, in which we had to pass Custura Saratii and Varful Negoiu - two demanding sections, equipped with chains and with a technical aspect. This route is not measured in kilometers, nor in the difference in level, but in the long hours spent out of breath. The rocky part of the Crestea Fgarasului made us feel, until exhaustion, the fatigue caused by insufficient sleep, the heavy luggage (with food for five days) and the long route, traversed the day before. This does not mean that I passed by the splendours of the place without interest. No, not at all. We were particularly impressed by the clouds that, in the company of the sun, created a show of shadows and lights, of veils that danced in the sky depending on how the wind directed them. We will not soon forget the wide landscapes, specifically Fagaras, with glacial valleys and sharp ridges that pierce the sky. We arrived at Lake Caltun at sunset, without taking too many breaks along the way. I cooked in a hurry, so as not to fall asleep hungry, I put the bivouac bag (because the shelter was full and I'd rather hear the wind whistling than people snoring). We slept until the next day, happy that we had reached our goal. You will find the continuation of the adventure in the second part of the clip. See also its description.
