The Kenyan company BURN is developing a resource-efficient stove for rural people. The huge demand for firewood often means that large areas of forest have to be cleared, and the new stove aims to change this. But the company needs capital to continue expanding. This capital is organised by Olga Dickmann through crowdinvesting: Instead of anonymous funds, investors in this form promote sustainable and environmentally friendly projects. They don't have to be big investors; small amounts from many backers make it possible to pool a lot of capital. And later, they get their investment back. With interest. Investing money and doing good is also something that is being pursued in Münster. The German city has been a pioneer in climate protection for decades. It invests in training citizens to become experts on climate and carbon footprint, who then advise families and companies. Successful: Households in Münster produce a total of 2.5 tons less CO2 per year. The Engemann family from the village of Höxter grows organic fruit, vegetables and grain. They are part of a network and support other farms in the region in organic farming. In 2020, they drew up a common good balance sheet for the first time, which includes not only the economic benefits of their farm, but also the social and ecological ones.
