For the first time since 1979, the year the Mercedes G-Class made its debut, electric support is introduced to the already exaggerated 4.0 V8 Biturbo petrol engine with 585 HP and 850 Nm of torque, excellently supported by a 9-speed SpeedShift TCT 9G automatic transmission. The hybrid unit in fact provides an additional boost that adds 20 HP and 200 Nm of torque that allow the new Mercedes G63 AMG to reach 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds (4.3” with the Performance Pack) with a top speed of 220 km/h (240 with the Performance Pack). Another significant innovation is the introduction of the AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension, which allows the suspension set-up to be continuously adjusted based on driving conditions and road surface roughness, making even the steepest of climbs seem flat. The maximum gradient that the new G63-Class can handle is in fact 100% with a maximum fording depth of 70cm. The interiors have also been slightly tweaked but remain the same as always, of the highest quality and finish, so resistant that it almost seems like you can mistreat them, as long as you forget how much you paid for one. The steering wheel is typical of the latest generation Mercedes, with three split spokes with the drive mode rotor (from the “quieter” Comfort to the more extreme Sport +) placed on the right side, but the main novelty is represented by the new 12.3” MBUX infotainment system (with a voice assistant with slightly too robotic tones to tell the truth) with touch functionality and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. You don't go unnoticed with the huge 22” wheels in Black Manufaktur (as well as the logos and the V8 biturbo badge), the large front air intakes and the four side sports terminals. To call the dimensions “remarkable” would be an understatement, 4.87 meters long, 1.97 meters high and a wheelbase of 2.89m, which is why front and rear cameras with aerial view and 3D reconstruction come to the rescue.
