Jairo Restrepo Rivera, born in Colombia and with Brazilian nationality, is an Agricultural Engineer from the Federal University of Pelotas, in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. He is a specialist in agroecology and an international consultant for Latin America and the Caribbean. In recent years he has written and published several books on the subject of organic agriculture. At an international level, he has given more than 320 lectures on organic agriculture, environmental protection, recycling and sustainable development, including participation in more than 37 universities and research institutes in Latin America and the Caribbean. He has worked as a technical advisor for governments, ministries and parliaments. With more than 25 years of work experience in Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Rural Development, he is a founding member of COAS (Council for Sustainable Agriculture and Permaculture).
